Criminal case against Telford murder victim ended

Court proceedings against a man murdered in Birmingham have been ended because of his death.

Tyrone Dorsett, aged 20 and from Priorslee in Telford, had been facing a charge of violent disorder relating to an incident in Shrewsbury on June 14 and 15 last year.

However, Mr Dorsett was shot dead in Birmingham on April 15, near Birmingham City Football Club's St Andrew's stadium.

In a hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, Judge Peter Barrie closed the file on the case after being informed of Mr Dorsett's death.

Mr Tiwana, representing the prosecution told Mr Barrie: "The defendant unfortunately died earlier this year.

"He was shot in the back in Birmingham."

In the wake of his death Mr Dorsett's family described him as a "wonderful son, brother and a devoted boyfriend”.

In a statement, they said: "He was very much loved by his family, friends and touched the lives of many.

"He will be sorely missed and our hearts are broken.”

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from West Midlands Police, added: "I am determined to find out who is responsible for this murder, there is no place for gun crime in Birmingham and the misery that it causes.

"We are following a number of lines of inquiry, however I would urge anyone with any information, however insignificant they think that may be to call me personally on 101.”
