Telford man admits to arson attack on brother’s home

A 42-year-old Telford man has admitted being involved in a New Year's Eve arson attack on his brother's home.

Sean Noto, of Stafford Court, is said to have broken windows before setting curtains alight at his brother Richard's house in Hart Lane, Dawley, on December 31 last year.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday, sentence was adjourned for psychiatric reports and will be heard in the week beginning July 16.

At an earlier hearing, Noto had pleaded guilty to a charge of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He was due to face trial at court yesterday on the more serious allegation of arson with intent to endanger life.

Mr Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said that no evidence was being offered against the defendant as Richard Noto, the victim, had stated that he would not attend court to give evidence.

Judge Peter Barrie recorded a formal not guilty verdict and Sean Noto was remanded in custody.
