Dara O’Briain has Telford Big Top crowd in stitches - GALLERY

Irish comedian Dara O’Briain had fans rolling in aisles with a sharp and witty stand-up performance to mark Telford 50.

A sold-out crowd in the Big Top in Telford Town Park was wowed by the stand-up and TV presenter who continued a week of big-name performances.

Dara's show came hot on the heels of Abba tribute act Arrival, who hit all the right notes in staples such as Mamma Mia and Waterloo on Tuesday.

The performances are part of the celebrations for Telford’s 50th birthday, which includes 17 shows of music, comedy and other entertainment.

Sarah Cherry, who plays the role of Agnetha Faltskog in Arrival said: "It was great, the crowd were brilliant. We perform in Oakengates every March anyway as a kind of homecoming gig.

"It was a privilege to be asked to do it.

"We perform all over the place but when you’re asked to come and do it in your own backyard it is really special.

"We are really grateful for the support of the local people.”
