New youth clubs to be launched in Telford

A new youth club is being launched at two locations in Telford – with others across the borough already being planned.

The My Friend and Me (Myfam) project will be holding weekly meetings at Dawley Town Hall and Brookside central community centre.

The club will be held at Dawley every Thursday from 5pm to 6.30pm starting next week, and will be held at the same time every Tuesday at Brookside from November 6.

The club aims to break down barriers between disabled and able-bodied children by encouraging them to play together.

Organiser Hannah Whitmore said the club would be adding other locations in Telford shortly.

She said: "We aim to get children excited and involved in order to reduce social isolation, discrimination and teach children about empathy whilst keeping them safe and off the streets."

Sessions cost £3 each for the first child, and then £2 for brothers and sisters. For more information email info@themyfamproject.co.uk
